Why is Life So Hard? Vol 8: God’s Word

This eighth book in the series Why Is Life So Hard? explores the wisdom and beauty of God’s Word. Psalm 119, a masterpiece of poetry, extols a multitude of benefits to be found in what God has made known about life, about his world. The psalmist did this by using different words to capture truth. In this case, the term he chose for “word” is related to arrangement. When used of words in particular, it refers to a speech, the thing being uttered. If anything can make our trials worse, it’s how alone we feel going through them. But when someone along the way speaks wisely to us, their presence makes our suffering bearable. When that Someone can wipe away every tear, why, that’s true comfort indeed.
